Taking Care of your Jewellery
I want you to love your jewellery purchases and keep them looking shiny and new for as long as possible. Here are a few tips to help: -
Store jewellery in a cool, dry place. A lined jewellery box is ideal, or wrapped in tissue in a jewellery pouch.
Fashion or costume jewellery is best kept clean by wiping with a dry soft cloth.
Sterling silver will keep its lustre and shine for ages if you store it in an airtight container. A high quality silver cleaning cloth can also be used to maintain its sparkle.
Store each piece of jewellery separately to avoid scratching.
To brighten up jewellery set with diamonds or cubic zirconia, you can use a soft toothbrush and warm soapy water. Avoid very hot water or solvents as this can sometimes affect the jewellery settings and findings.
For other gemstones such as emeralds, rubies, garnets, opals, pearls, turquoise and amber check what is recommended for cleaning that gemstone. Cleaners that are recommended for precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum may be too harsh for the gemstones they are set with.
And very important ........
Always put your jewellery on last to avoid damage caused by perfume, hairspray, deodorants and hand cream.
